Videos

Over the past several years, I’ve made four political educational/advocacy videos that may be of interest to you.

No Place to Hide: Torture, Psychologists, and the APA. This brief video describes the troubling role of psychologists and the American Psychological Association (APA) in the harsh interrogations and torture of detainees at Guantanamo Bay and other national security settings. The information presented was obtained from official reports and other now-public documents. Regrettably, as of the APA Convention in August, none of the organization’s positions as described in this video has changed.

Resisting the Drums of War. This video describes how the misguided and destructive war in Iraq was promoted by targeting our concerns about vulnerability, injustice, distrust, superiority, and helplessness. The continued occupation of Iraq–or an attack on Iran–will likely be sold to us in much the same way. This video examines these warmongering appeals and how to counter them.

How Conservatives Exploit Our Five Core Concerns. This video describes how today’s conservatives have used appeals to our core concerns about vulnerability, injustice, distrust, superiority, and helplessness in order to further a narrow ideological agenda that actually benefits very few while leaving most of us worse off.

Forewarned is Forearmed: Bush on Iran. This video offers a brief but troubling chronicle of the president’s public warmongering and demonization of Iran. The White House’s propaganda campaign laying the groundwork for military action against Iran dates back more than six years–to Bush’s 2002 State of the Union address in which he designated Iran as a founding member of the “axis of evil.”
